Nuclear power plants get their energy from uranium, thorium,
or other fissile material and use it to generate heat.
Pros: Carbon-free electricity, reliable baseload electricity source, small land footprint, capacity factor. Like solar, a nuclear power plant does not generate emissions while generating electricity.
Cons: Recycling the spent (partially used) nuclear fuel is possible but not yet implemented.
Costs:
Capacity factor: 92.5%
Other: Nuclear power generation is the only energy generation system that accounts for all waste produced.
